Owing to its quality built, better specifications and cheaper prices, Xiaomi has gained a lot of attention. But unfortunately, more popularity brings more fakes and the present scenario is that there are more fake Xiaomi Power Banks in the market than there are legit ones.

Differentiating between Genuine and Fake

Depending on the company manufacturing the fakes, there can be some cases where it works similarly to the genuine one, but it will surely fail most of the following tests.

Genuine – Genuine Mi power banks sold in China come with a sticker on the packaging which can be scratched off to reveal a 20-digit code. Entering the code on the Xiaomi website (link below) would confirm the genuine product. However, the power banks sold outside of China via official channels will not carry this sticker. You should definitely look for this sticker unless buying from an officially certified store.

Fake – Fake Power Bank will usually not include any such sticker on the packaging, confirming that it is fake. Even if it carries one, the ‘times queried‘ on the Xiaomi website will show a very high number because the fake guys want to save costs by printing the code on multiple stickers.

Length and Branding on USB Cable

Genuine – The MicroUSB cable included with genuine Mi Power Banks does NOT carry any Mi branding. If you see one with Mi printed on it, it is a fake.
For 20000mAh Power Bank – The length of USB cable is longer at around 13-inches with a lightning icon printed on the MicroUSB end.

Fake – Fake power banks usually ship with a USB Cable which has Mi printed on it. Many of us would take this as a sign of genuine product and apparently that’s what these fake sellers want to achieve by printing Mi on the USB cable.

Pass-Through Charging

Genuine: The original Mi power bank supports pass-through charging. What it means that the power bank will also charge a mobile phone connected to it while it itself is being charged. Only necessity is that the input charger must supply enough power and as such, charging via a PC’s USB Port will not help.

Fake: The fake power bank does not have this capability and it will just charge itself and won’t pass on any current to the mobile phone connected to it. It will only charge the mobile when you disconnect the charger from the power bank.

Color of USB Ports on the Power Bank

Genuine – The front visible part of both the Micro USB and standard USB port have a rice white color.

Fake – Most of the fake power banks have a milk white color on the Standard USB port and a Black color on the Micro USB port.

Printing at the Bottom

Genuine – Has a printing in grey-ish ink which is lighter and clear. It is also well textured which can be felt by moving the fingers over it.

Fake – Usually darker and blurry in black ink and sometimes unclear printing.

LED Lights Function when Using

Genuine – Lights blink while showing the power status on the device. At any time, holding the power button will turn off all the LED lights and they light up when the button is released.
Lights are well packed and not even a bit of it leaks out from other areas of the power bank.

Fake – LEDs blink after you press the button once. If you keep it pressed, lights won’t turn off. Lights are also not well packed and often leaks out of the usb ports.

Branding on the Standard USB Port

Update: The branding seems to be missing from the newer 16000mAh power banks, even though they are genuine. It is visible on the newest 20000mAh power banks.

Genuine – Genuine power bank carries a small MI branding on the chassis of the standard USB port on the power bank. It is pretty small, but is easily visible while looking under natural lighting or by directing a light source (such as torch) into it.

Fake – Fakes do not carry any such branding.

Amazon Tap is supposed to do all of that, including provide a similar sound experience, but it ditches the cord and uses a charging cradle in order to be portable. As it's not always plugged into power, always-on Alexa isn't available though. You have to push a mic button to access the service. Tap is therefore useful if you're going to the beach or are always on the go and it is only available to those in the US.

How many times can a 10000mAh power bank fully charge your iPhone 6/6s? Actually, this is a difficult question to answer.

The number of times a 10000mAh power bank can fully charge your device is relevant to 3 primary factors.

1.— What device you are charging with a 10000mAh power bank —

Generally speaking, a good rule of thumb is to divide the mAh of 10000mAh power bank by the mAh of your device battery.

So a 10000mAh power bank can “theoretically” charge an iPhone 4s plus from 1-100% 4.1 times (10000 / 1810 = 5.5). –iphone6/6s battery capacity is 1810 mAh.

Keep in mind: this is never 100% accurate as there still some other factors involved which will influence the charging times, which is always higher than what a 6000mAh power bank can practically give. Keep reading…

2.— What is the device doing while it is being charged —

It’s not strange to see the device charged, for example, by a 10000mAh power bank, while you’re still using the device. So is there any difference between using the device while it’s plugged into and leaving the device alone or on airplan mode while it’s charged? The answer is undoubtedly YES.

If you are watching a movie on your device while the 10000mAh power bank is charging it, more power drained from the 10000mAh power bank and meantime it seems that your device is never charged. That is because you’re taking the power more quickly than the 10000mAh charges your device.

If you leave your device alone or on airplane mode while charging, you will get more fully charges since the device is not taking much battery charge at all while the 10000mAh power bank is charging up the device.

3.— The charging cycles of the power bank 10000mAh —

More charging cycles the power bank gives, its capacity will reduce. Theoretically, the capacity will reduce to 80% after 300 charging cycles. If so, a 10000mAh power bank may have a 10000mAh capacity. This is also relevant to the temperature when you’re using your power bank. And this point I believe you could find out on the manual when you brought the power bank.

I bought a intelligent vacuum wine preserver to preserve an opened bottle of wine. I think it is the best method to preserver the opened red wine. Here i collect some features of the preserver after my several month use.

Perhaps the best way to get to know this question is to compare the charging values between each of Qualcom’s Quick Charge revisions.

Here we can see that the amount of current offered by Quick Charge has remained relatively consistent, but increasing the charging voltage has helped allow for faster charge times. With 3.0, the range of voltages will allow for fast charging and better efficiency.

For smartphones, the actual maximum amount of power available has not really changed from Quick Charge 2.0’s 18W maximum. Newer 9V models will still take the same 18W peak power as before, although lower voltage batteries may receive a power boost, allowing them to charge up a little faster than before. But this all depends on the exact hardware.

Importantly, Qualcomm has retained backwards compatibility with its 2.0 and 1.0 standards. As the power draw is handled on the smartphone side, you will safely receive the maximum amount of power for your device using any of the certified chargers. However, you won’t achieve full charging speeds if you try charging newer phones with older lower power chargers.

Although Qualcomm supports Quick Charge in all of its new SoCs, it is still up to smartphone and tablet manufacturers to implement the specific circuitry required to make full use of the fastest charging speeds available. Keep an eye out for Quick Charge 3.0 devices.

2. MediatekPump Express Plus

MTK also released Pump Express and Pump Express Plus technology separately in Feburary and May 2015. The official said it can improve 45% charging speed, of course, it will also need specific charger.

Pump Experss technology mainly depends on the inbuilt PMIC which allows the electric current of the charger to decide the initial voltage that charging needs, and then PMIC will give its impulse current order to the charger via USB Vbus to command the charger output the voltage according to the order, finally, when the voltage is increased to 5V, it can get the largest charging current.

5.OPPO VOOC

OPPO lately was famous for 5 minitue’s charging time contributes to 2 hours’ talk time. Many people wonder how they made this. In fact, this is OPPO’s Quick Charge patent thecnology, VOOC Flash Charge.

Different from the way that Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 and MTK Pump Express achieve quick charge by improving the charging voltage, OPPO’s unique VOOC Flash Charge is to decrease the voltage and improve the current to achieve quick charging effect.

Normally speaking, the standard Micro USB port has 5 needles, and the mobile phone battery has 4 to 5 contacts. While VOOC Flash Charge uses 7 needles Micro USB port and battery with 8 metal contacts. The extra needles and contacts can be refered as the paths to batteries. In this way, the charging speed can be improved.

For heavy users of mobile phone or other electric devices, charging their devices anytime and where seems super important. But one thing more essential is to charge devices quicker. Therefore Quick Charge technology came into the market and developed to Quick Charge 3.0 recently.

If you’re new to the concept of quick charging, the result is in the name: your smartphone charges up faster than it would without Quick Charge technology. Qualcomm boasts a fourfold increase in charging times over conventional chargers with Quick Charge 3.0, up from the 40 percent speed increase offered by its first generation technology. However, one of the interesting things to note is that Qualcomm isn’t touting massive increases in charging times over version 2.0, instead the company is focusing on improved efficiency this time around.

The major new feature with 3.0 is INOV (Intelligent Negotiation for Optimum Voltage), which allows for a fined tuned power output and a more optimized charging cycle. Firstly, different batteries require different charging voltages. Version 2.0 supported four modes at varying power levels, 5 volts/2amps, 9V/2A, 12V/1.67A, and a 20 volt option. Quick Charge 3.0’s INOV communicates with the device to request any voltage between 3.2V and 20V at 200mV increments, allowing for a wider selection of voltages.

INOV has the added benefit of being able to dynamically adjust the charging voltage over the battery charging cycle. As a battery charges up, it slowly draws less and less current, which is partly why it takes longer to charge the last 20 percent than the first. Qualcomm states that its new technology allows the phone to request just enough voltage to reach the desired charge current, thereby maximising efficiency.

This is useful as it reduces the amount of energy wasted during charging. Previously, extra power not used to charge the battery would be lost as heat, warming up your phone and reducing the longevity of the battery. By exerting more control over charging efficiency, less power is wasted, resulting in less heat. Qualcomm states that version 3.0 is up to 38 percent more efficiency than 2.0, which is a substantial energy saving.

Energy efficiency is really the major new feature with Quick Charge 3.0, but this is still very important as cooler batteries will last longer than hot ones.
